Vintage Oldsmobile Auto Graphics, 1946-1947
This is my collection of ads from the early postwar years, 1946 to 1947. Note: The ads are sorted according to publishing date (if known). Car model years changed in October, so it is possible that cars of a model year show up in an overview of the previous year (when the ad was published). Example: A 1951 model is featured in November 1950 and therefore would show up in the 1950 overview.
Cars manufactured in these years were warmed-over versions of prewar models. Just the trim and some minor technical details were updated. The war had brought production of civil cars to a halt in early 1942. Common to all models are "projecting" front fenders, dependable and durable straight-8 and straight-6 engines that gave these cars only modest performance.
How-To-Tell: There are a few details to distinguish between different production years: 1946 cars have a small (rounded) badge at the end of the chrome side stripe. 1947 have a more elliptical shape.
